ANCIENT AND MODERN…
The rally is open to cars built between 1930 and 1983… and, since 2005, to the beautiful modern GT cars built from 1984 onwards. For the latter, a parallel but identical event is organised: the « RALLYE PRESTIGE ».
A PRECISION RALLY … COMBINING SPORT AND TOURISM…
Although the notion of speed is not taken into account when the classifications are drawn up, the competition - for those who are interested - is well and truly there.
To explain the principles behind the event, the « CLASSIC » is run like a traditional rally, with liaison sections which have to be completed in a 'reasonable' time, followed by classification events known as 'Precision Regularity' events, during which an average driving speed has to be kept, with extreme precision, over a distance of around 30 kilometres maximum, dotted with secret control points … Simple but very compelling. A real challenge where the winner wins a free entry for the year after.
A UNIQUE ORGANISATION…
The organising team, the secret of the success of the « Classic », includes around 50 people (hospitality, checkpoint personnel, doctors, mechanics, film crews, computer programmers…) divided into 20 cars… to look after approximately 55/60 ancient or prestige cars accepted to take part in the rally ! As for the cars taking part in the event, we can take care of their transport - on 8-car transporters - from a variety of European cities (Dover,Calais, Brussels, Paris, Lyon, Zurich, Geneva, Nice, Toulouse, Madrid, Lisbon…) to Morocco and back. This is a service that we can provide … but it is not obligatory of course !
« THE » GRAND RALLY OF PLEASURE...
To summarise, this is a 'Great Rally of pleasure', allying sport and tourism. The only tasks facing the participants is to drive and top their cars up with petrol. All the rest is in the hands of the organisers. And the only cost not included in the entry fees and options is the fuel..
Remaining faithful to its reputation, the 'Classic' will welcome the competitors in style - in luxury hotels with the new La Mamounia at Marrakech , aiming for a festive ambiance, relaxation and conviviality … while, if necessary, a service team will take care of your cars.
It is a week of total automobile joy, such as you cannot enjoy anywhere else, especially so close to Europe. In early spring, it will combine driving pleasure, good food, and enjoyment in one of the most wonderful and welcoming countries in the world : Morocco.
