THE MAIN POINTS...
The "MAROC CLASSIC – La Route du Coeur®" is an historic regularity event for historic and prestige cars. Those who do not feel able to tackle the rigours of a timed regularity competition may neverthless drive the “Classic” and will benefit form the same levels of organisation, safety and hospitality.
- Date: 13-20 March 2010
- Eligible cars : vehicles complying with international road traffic legislation.
- For the "MAROC CLASSIC": touring cars, sports cars and GT cars built between 1930 and 1983. Replicas are equally acceptable.
- For the "MAROC PRESTIGE": sports cars and GT cars built since the beginning of 1984.
- Crews : Each must comprise one first driver and one or two co-drivers, each of whom must have a valid driving licence. Changing any member of the crew is possible at any time, subject to permission by the organiser.
- Maximum number of starters : More or less 60, two thirds for the "Classic", one third for the "Prestige".
- HOTELS : Participants in the 2010 "Maroc Classic" will have the privilege of being among the first to re-discover the legendary Marrakech MAMOUNIA, revisited by the architect Jacques Garcia, whose renovations have lasted more than three years. La Mamounia is now part of the very closed circle International Palace. This magical place will also host the Gala Awards Night. Of the seven hotels along the route in 2010, for are new! No bivouac, but a lunch at Ksar Char-Bagh, one of the very few Relais et Châteaux in Africa, will be organised in Marrakech
- Event détails
- Format: one week : Starts on Sunday, finishes the following Saturday. Starts from Casablanca - Finishes at Marrakech.
- Ovdernight halts: Essaouira - Agadir - Ouarzazate - Erfoud - Bin El Ouidane - Marrakech
- Lenght: about 2.330 kilometres divided into seven legs
- Average length of each daily leg: 250/300 kms, each divided by lunch halt
- One "Marathon" leg between Agadir and Ouarzazate (600 km) by Igherm, Tata, Foum Zguid, Tazenakht.
- Road surfaces: all asphalt; no tracks
- Classification tests: 19.
- REGULARITY ROAD TESTS (ERR): Fixed routes over which competitors must maintain - to the nearest 1/10th of a second - an average speed, sometimes imposed by the organisers, sometimes chosen by the crew. Any difference between the imposed or chosen average speed will be penalised at the rate of 1 point for each second. Each ERR will cover a route of no more than 30 kilometres, with a required average speed of between 40 and 90 km/h, depending on the nature of the roads.
- Timing equipment: free, except that on-board computers are forbidden.
- Retirement / rejoining the event: Any crew which starts a leg but which, for any reason, fails to complete one or more classification tests, will receive a standard penalty. They are nevertheless allowed to re-join the event at the start of the next test or the next leg.
- INTRODUCTION TO REGULARITY (Optional): For novice crews, there will be an optional training period during the morning of Saturday 13 March.
- VIP VILLAGE : Before the start procedures in Casablanca on Sunday morning, a Hospitality Village, hosted by the main partners in the "Maroc Classic" will be open to their guests, to the authorities of the city of Casablanca, to the press, and to participants.
- PRIZES : To be officially classified and receive any prize, entrants must take the start of the last leg. The winner of the "Classic" will be offered a free entry (excluding options) for the Maroc Classic 2011. The winner of the Prestige category will be offered 50% off (excluding options)!
- VALUE FOR MONEY : For several years, participants have been unanimous in giving an average score of 4.5 out of 5 for the whole organisation and the 4.2 out of 5 for the price / quality ratio!
