The "MAROC CLASSIC - La Route du Coeur ®" is an historical regularity rally run under the Honorary Chairmanship of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid and reserved - by invitation - to historic cars and modern GTs, organised from 13 to 20 March 2010 by D • R • O (Dominique Rageys Organisation), under the auspices of the Federation Royale Marocaine des Sports Automobiles (FRMSA). This will be its 17th edition, the first having been run in 1993, organised by Jean-François RAGEYS, its creator and, to date, still the host and promotor
For any participant who requests it, the organisers undertake transportation of their car from selected European towns – such as Dover, Calais, Brussels, Paris, Lyon, Zurich, Geneva, Nice, Toulouse, Madrid and Lisbon - to Morocco and back. This is one of the most popular aspects of the "MAROC CLASSIC" and is used by almost every participant. Loading, unloading, insurance, customs, transit, etc are all managed by the organisers. Participants collect their cars from the starting area in Casablanca, where they have been washed, stickered and covered with a protective cover supplied by the organisers. One of the organisers - AURELIEN HAMART - is in charge of liaison with the official carrier, AUTOTRANS.
A team of no fewer than 50 people, driving 27 Peugeot vehicles, are in place to look after the participants. Clerk of the Course, coordinator, competitor relations officer, hospitality crews, time controllers, computer experts, doctors, engineers, journalists and photographers - all combine their experience and skills to provide perfect organisation for the participants. There is an average of three persons for each competing car!
This is a vital aspect, one to which - along with friendliness - the organisers pay the greatest attention. The route is built around the available accommodation. A team led by Dominique and Fanny RAGEYS is responsible for booking air tickets with our partners at Royal Air Maroc according to the wishes of participants; for airport-hotel transfers; for reserving hotels; for selecting the right menus for lunch or dinner; for fine-tuning the rooming lists; and for taking account of the optional extras, the transfer of luggage, etc...
Over and above the permanent and ubiquitous supervision of the rally by the Royal Moroccan Police, the national security service and the public authorities, every control will have telephone contact with the clerk of the course. The route will be opened by two radio vehicles and closed by two medical sweepers carrying doctors, mechanics and first-aid equipment. In addition, a medical ambulance will follow the rescue truck over the entire route, behind the last car. At the end of each leg, a medical centre will be available for all competitors
A mobile workshop with five mechanics will be at the end of each leg, to offer help for any participants needing to keep their vehicles in proper running order. Anyone who breaks down along the route (a very rare occurrence) will be taken care of by a rescue unit, or by the flat-bed truck which closes the route, in which case a courtesy car will be available to the crew involved until the end of the leg. Each evening, cars will be placed in a guarded car park.
The "MAROC CLASSIC" will use the Rally Timing System from CDConcept, guaranteeing that results will be both accurate and reliable. This system, now used successfully by many organisers all over the world, is based on transponders installed in the cars and transmitter beacons located along the route of each Regularity Road Test.
