STAGE 2: AGADIR – TAFRAOUTE – TATA / MONDAY MARCH 14, 2022

As announced yesterday evening during the briefing for this 2nd stage of the Morocco Classic, the great « journey » was about to really begin today with a crossing of the Anti-Atlas, its palm groves and its rocky mountains leading into the desert regions around Tata.
To reach the first foothills of the Anti-Atlas, our host for the day, we first had to leave the suburbs of Agadir before competing in two special stages between Biougra and Tafraoute during a morning rich in bends and looking like a time travel, in Berber land.
While the climatic conditions oscillated between grayness and fine drizzle, the argan tree beds gave way to palm trees and cacti to reach Tafraoute and Ait Mansour, in a sublime setting, made of round rocks, which will have surprised the participants as it is full of unexpected wonders and breathtaking views.
After climbing a pass culminating at 1200m, the snow even appeared on this narrow and winding road, which led to an unexplored palm grove where a lunch was organized under caidal tents, in the heart of this paradise on earth.
The afternoon offered a faster route with a succession of straight lines and two stages leading to the large stretches of Tata where Cyril Neveu had a luxury bivouac set up. The evening will then take on a very special look and there is no doubt that he will be able to recount his past exploits when he fought to win his five Dakars on a motorcycle.
